Why are you putting it together before it's painted?
Mainly because we need good fenders, but, this would not be the first car that we did that got the "outside" painted last so the outside has less chance of getting dinged up in a cluttered garage.
Just the way we do things, whether right or wrong in everybody's mind, we have a blast doing it and they always turn out fairly nice IMO

Why do you paint them first?
I wasn't saying it was right or wrong...just wondering...that's all.
I like to paint everything first so there is ZERO chance of getting dust/primer/overspray, whatever onto the nicely cleaned and detailed parts like the suspension etc...and you don't have to spend time and yards of tape to masked off areas already detailed.
To each their own
No problem, and sorry I seemed irritated...Yes, it does take tons of tape and a good cleaning after completion but that is the space we are dealing with, there is NO way around dust where I live, except for a booth
We really dont have a preference, it depends on the situation, like trying to locate "good" body panels and other parts that may delay you.

Very cool that you kept the original color. I saw a survivor 70' 340 Duster in that color and it looked awesome. Great job

I just love the 70-72 340 Dusters. You are doing some real nice work and that will be a great color. Dang now you have me thinking....... I stumbled on a high impact car with 70 side stripes several months ago but never got closer to see what it was. I had a few days off this past week and happened it be in that area so I got a closer look, it looks like an unmolested original 70 340 Duster. Now in another few months I might stop to inquire I feel that since I have not re-engaged my own project maybe I should finish it first. My current NEGLECTED project
