In the past I've seen guys run dual 390CFM Holleys on the street. Anybody here done it? What are they like and is there anything special I need to know about them. I am aware that running a single 4bbl may well be the best way to go, but this is more for looks than anything. And it's going in a Dodge truck.....

I run them! box stock except for the quick change springs and vacuum port that ties them together . part 20-73 I have tested my setup against a single 4bbl dual plane intake and a holley 780 cfm vac secondary carb. the tunnel ram runs : 60' - 1.74 1/4 - 12.56 mph - 108 - 106 the stock cast iron intake ran : 60'- 1.86 1/4 - 13.2 mph - 102 I get 14-16 mpg with 3.23's and 26" tall tires the track times are with the 3.23's and 24.5" tall slicks. It it all on a stock 360 - small valve heads and kb 107 pistons - mopar 474 lift cam and dynamic 9.5" converter on a 904

What kind of motor would this be going on and what kind of intake? Does your intake have enough spacing between the carbs to fit the overhang of the holley bowls?
Ok, here's the plan for the engine. 426 Street Wedge, stock compression. Lunati hydraulic cam #60301 256/262 adv. duration .454/.475" lift 112 centerline, 1000-5500RPM. Edelbrock STR crossram. All painted orange and valve covers decaled to look kinda like a Max Wedge, though obviously not to trained eyes like us here. Now I only have the bottom part of the manifold, so I will be making a top, so making it to clear the carb bowls isn't an issue. It's going in a '47 Power Wagon that has been fitted with 4.10 Dana 60s, a divorced NP205 transfer case, and I have the NV4500 5-speed OD trans sitting in wait. I will be using MSD ignition and electric fans. I already understand that I will have to make all my mounts to intall it, I'm in the process now and it's nothing over my head. I just thought that an engine like that would look cool and run good in this vehicle. But I never tried the dual 390s on anything I've owned in the past, hence the reason for this post. So far the reviews seem good, and obviously I welcome opinions from knowledgeable people who have used these things. But building a truck motor is often different than one for a car, as this truck is very heavy and will haul sometimes. If they work well in a car, what will they be like in my truck?

Nice tubing work! I wish I could make 90` bends like that, mine always go a little too 90`. I cheat with aluminum underneath, but that swagelock stainless always looks great. I have a little thin walled stuff left, might try something like that on a 650 speed demon.
Thanks - The imperial bender sure does help... I was on a construction job with some .034 wall and used the leftovers for my car - you gotta do that everyday or you get the bend the wrong way more then you'd like - at leasr in my case...lol
That stuff is great - you can remove it and reinstall it with ease and no chance of leaks.

My daily driver work truck had a tunnel ram and two center float Holley 450 cfm carbs, it ran awesome, started excellent during the winter, no drawbacks compared to a single four barrel IMO.... My truck was heavy, it was a 3/4 ClubCab with 1 ton suspension, had 4.10 gears, 29" tall tires, a 727 with a stock stall converter, and could spin the tires while pulling a car trailer with a 1937 Plymouth on it.... 440, 9.1 to 1 compression, mild head work, 268 Comp Cam, headers, it was pretty mild IMO.... The intake was a Weiand 3x2bbl tunnel ram converted to 2 four barrels...
