I'm looking for any info on a 1958 Desoto Sweptside pickup 315" engine. Anyone know anything about one of these? Like what's the difference from a 318?
I have a friend restoring his truck, & asked me about rebuilding the motor.

I don't know about the 315 Poly but I did play with a 325 Poly in a 58 Dodge Custom Royale.. Nothing would interchange with the 318 Poly.. Parts are expensive & hard to source... On the 325 after me doing some research the owner decided to swap engines to a rebuilt 383 & 727 he already had..

Most DeSoto parts dont interchange motor to motor.I know the Hemis are car specific.Post a pic Ive never seen a DeSoto truck.Is it a Canadian truck.Rocky

No US DeSoto trucks.Marketed Mexico/South America only.Pretty rare piece.

I believe the only 315 was a Dodge engine. Parts are available (at least they were for the 325 that I had). The made the 315 in a poly and a hemi.

315 Dodge Hemi and Poly's did not share the later 318 Poly A engine type blocks. Used the earlier Hemi "style" blocks as did the Spitfire engines 301,331,354. Allpar has a lot of good info.
