..for A body 10" drum cars, you don't even have to take your spindles off.
this looks too good to be true.
celebrity callipers re-man at $15 - $20 pr.
Previa rotors at $40 pr plus pads, master cyl. and scarebirds brackets.
The calliper pistons are 2 1/2",which should be fine w/1" master.
Anybody put this together yet?...al

I am looking at this for my 64 too and when I searched the web it seems everyone is happy with the results. The 64 setup uses Celebrity brakes and rotors as well.

I ran into a minor issue with the supplied bolts being a bit to long but all in all a great setup.

I had the 9" conversion on my race car and they worked great. Other than the thought of brand X parts on your mopar its a nice solution.

Been on my car for about 4 years. No problems.
Beats drum brakes by far.

I like mine. '72 demon 10" drums to celebrity disc setup. Not fancy or big diameter, but it stops good and straight with no constant adjusting.

...i'm considering this system for a '69 Dart.
sounds like you're happy with it.
what size master cyl. are you using and how is the pedal pressure and travel?

I'm about to switch from a late 2-bolt aluminum 1 1/8" bore to a similar 1 1/32" bore. I like a hard pedal (manual brakes) but the big bore was too much. I ran it for about a year anyway! It stops but it needs lots of pressure. I am 6' 2" 300lbs...

I think 7/8"-1 1/32" is a good range with this setup.

By the way I still have 10" drum brakes on the back. I swapped in an a-body disc prop valve with an aftermarket adjustable knob style behind it to control premature lockup. It turns out with 275/60/15's on the back (28" tire) the extra knob wasn't needed. I just run it wide open to the rear. Maybe 26" tall tires would need a little line pressure taken away?

Hope I helped.

I'm looking at a kit for my 72 demon, sbp 9 inch drums. I've got 15 inch cragar ss wheels. Anybody have experience with this setup? I emailed scarebird to see if it would work and they said "should, but can't guarantee it with Cragars." So I am hesitant to order unless someone else has done it.

Pyp1000 used a Scarebird swapover on a 65 Barracuda with 10" drums. Easy swap, no hassles, used a Volare master cylinder...I've driven the car. It stops straight and quick. Not a road racing setup by any means, but for the money, it's a huge improvement over the stockers. Works with 14" wheels, which is not true of some other change-over setups, and allows you to keep your small bolt pattern wheels if necessary. The usual remarks concerning the necessity to check and if necessary adjust rear wheel brake bias apply.

Just read your post. Pyp1000 is running 14" Cragar SS small bolt pattern wheels with the Scarebird conversion. Plenty of clearance, no hassles.

I did a '73 disc conversion on my drum brake small ball joint '73 swinger. It got big ball joint upper control arms knuckles, etc. Re-bushed and used old lower control arms. Used a 73 disc type prop valve.

Price was similar. More work to swap. Similar stopping power. The trade off in brake part cheapness and availability with the '72 knuckles and chevy brake parts is offset by the high price of '72 suspension parts, especially lower ball joints. I guess a brake rebuild/ freshen up is more frequent service than a suspension rebuild, but the '73 suspension is way cheaper to rebuild.

6 of one half dozen of the other?

Kevin

Previa or Celebrity disks, on a SBP? Enlighten me. Is the 5X100mm close enough? Im all over it if they keep the 5 on 4.

Disregard, they use the original drum hub. Im on it.
