In a nutshell you have Race W2 and Econo W2's. Race have flat milled surface for a indpendent pedestal to locate the rocker shafts, the Econo's have a cast in rocker pedestal, similar to stock style rockers.
The race version has offset rocker stands and they require a fair amount of work to set up correctly, but just takes time. Either head will most likely require pushrod clearances, sometimes significant. Both can make good power for the dollar if you buy them right. The race rocker set ups just cost more.

looking at the harlan sharp rockers the race kit is about $1100.00 which includes rockers, shafts, and blocks.
the econo head kit is $990.00 which includes the shafts and rockers.
these prices are taken from summit racing...just for reference.

I have used the econo W2 heads with the Mopar Performance offset rockers for 8 years plus on a dirt track 408" motor with NO problems. I use solid/flat tappet cam,,NO roller. If you re going roller, it costs mucho' more to get heads to work proper. Mine are standard valve length heads with a 130#/330# spring set up, .580"-ish lift. No push rod clearance issues.
If you like drag racing, support your local track.

Yes, there ARE early castings you want to stay away from. I have a set here. They are very prone to cracking around the head bolt bosses, particuarily on the outside bolt holes. The later castings have more meat and "bracing" in this area.

Not to hi-jack this thread but is there any HP/TQ differences between the RACE and ECONO heads??
Of the same generation NO... Race & Econo's use same ports/chambers. Only difference is the rocker pedestals in the heads.
As a general rule....anything that has the actual word MOPAR & W2 cast into them would be better head to start with (eliminates the older stuff)
It's hard to make generalizations about W2's because they have been made for 36 years, & there are so many different variations that have been made over the years it gets mind boggling.
Just off top of my head......
47CC closed chamber 55CC closed chamber 60CC open chamber 65CC closed chamber 2 different 70-72CC open chambers
3 basic outside castings (1970's/late '80's/Late 90's) All with differing strengths
18 degree valve angle 15 degree valve angle
at least 4 different intake port designs & 4 different exhaust port designs....
Long valve econo, std. length econo...
Traditional Race W2 rocker gear & now T&D/Jesel rocker setups only....
Several different variations on header bolt patterns... some heads have dual pattern, some are single std, some single race....
They are like race blocks, so many different variations/versions, ask questions before you buy....

Econo W2 pushrod clearance. This was a 62o solid, a bit larger than needed, but not much extra room. I'll post some pushrod angles shortly.

Im a rookie but wouldnt pushrod angles like that shown i about 15 degrees from the cam perpendicular reduce the gross lift about 25%
(cos)15=.75 +/-

Its no where near a 25% loss but it is some
