I was under my 300 the other day changing oil. I got to looking at the exhaust set up (3.5/V6) on it. Looks like a dual exhaust could be put on real easily. The cats are way up above the place where the two banks come together.
My question: most (if not all) other set ups have a single cat in the pipe well down stream of the point where the two pipes come together. My car already has two cats in it. Why can't I just put a Borla dual exhaust system on it that takes the dual to the rear of the car? I know the law about not being able to put dual exhaust on a car that never was optioned with dual. But the 300's were (with a V8) optioned with duel.
OK law experts, what do you think?

Mike,
I think you should move out of the People's Republic of California and exercise your sovereign rights as a citizen to put whatever exhaust you want on your car. Ha! I'm now thinking about converting the trucks over to big blocks (the horror!). You can even own GUNS up here!

Oh, by the way; I'll see you very soon!

Danan, you can't contact me any more. Now that you've left the Communist state of Kalifornia without proper authorization, they will back track your communications and track you down like a dog. Set up your defenses very well. You've taken potential revenue away, and they won't stand for that.
Otherwise how you doing? Call some time.

the pipes fighting each other or something? it is DUAL not DUEL....

ok, grammar lesson out of the way, yes you can...I wouldn't be suprised if cat-back a stock 5.7 system wouldn't bolt up or couldn't be adapted easily.

or there are all of these kits or these kits which should fit. the dynomax and borla ones explicitly statethey are 50 state legal, not sure of the others....

ok, grammar lesson out of the way,

Thanks professor! You might take a look at your own work before teaching someone else about spelling and grammar. Case in point, the word surprised, and what's up with this sentence? (I wouldn't be suprised if cat-back a stock 5.7 system wouldn't bolt up or couldn't be adapted easily.)
Other wise I thank you for your information. I already have the Borla kit. Bolting up to something won't be a problem. I think I could do some welding if need be.
I guess my real question is about the legalities involved. Thought someone on here would have been through this kind of thing before, and could help me.

a friend took a 5.7 exhaust and put it under his v6 charger - said it fit pretty easy -

the hemi exhaust was thrown away in favor of an aftermarket setup - you might find a similar situation

dont check my grammar or spelling - i didnt use spell check!

Thanks DJVCuda. The more info the better.
Oh, don't worry about the spelling. I'm usually not to critical about that sort of thing. Unless .

Sorry, I'm an engineer, so spelling/proper sentence structure aren't my strong suit, but whenever I see "duel" where the person means "dual" just really grates on me

anyhoo, to be 100% compliant in legal terms with the PRC (People's Republic of California), I'd say if whatever you system you put on it has a CARB number associated with it you're fine....otherwise,

I'm from Minnesota and live in Michigan, where we don't have no steeekin' inspections....

Oh that's OK. We all have our pet peeves, and no one on here is perfect. Anyway I learned something, I guess that's a good thing. Just goes to show, you never know where your going to learn something, or from who . Anyway, I changed all the offending words to the correct ones. So you won't see it described incorrectly in my threads.
