I have not had my car at the drags for a long time. Back in the day (80s) it ran high 12s to 13.1 on street tires with traction problems usually it ran 107 to 108. With good tires I will assume it should pick up a half a second at least.
What stuff do I need to update or have to pass a tech inspection. My battery is in the truck so I assume I will need a battery switch. I have a Driveshaft loop and helmet.
As I build the car to go faster when will I need a roll bar.
Is there website that lists the safety features need for different levels 10s, 11s
Thanks Jeff

You really don't need anything untill you go 11:50 or better. Sounds like you already have what you need just make sure you have a good helmet, your battery switch marked and not to much rubber hose on the fuel lines.

Make sure the helmet is the proper spec and in the time period needed, a SFI 95 or 98 won't get it anymore. Call the track, if you can, that you want to run at and ask there tech. guy for the proper spec numbers abd codes. Do you have aftermarket thick center aluminum wheels? If so are the wheel studs long enough to protrude into the hex part of the lug nut 1/2 inch or more? If not they need to

You can go to www.nhra.com and read the rule
book online also, or $10 + $3.50 S/H if you
want a hard copy. Or if you are a NHRA member
then the book is $7 + $3.50 S/H.

You do not need a rear firewall if you have the
stock rear seat AND the battery is enclosed in
a metal battery box.

On the rubber hose, you are only allowed a max
of 12" total rubber hose in the whole fuel system
so only connection points. The rest needs to be
metal or braided fuel line or one of the other
accepted fuel lines.

How old is your helmet? Mine was manufactured
in 2000 and is good until Jan 2012, so check
into that, you may need to buy a new helmet.

Thanks for the responses.
Looks like im good except for

The wheel studs might be an issue. I currently have the extra deep style lugs similar to these.

Will I need longer studs with a open nut on all 4 wheels. What are the options for the 5 on 4 bolt pattern wheels. Buy longer studs and have them pressed in? Do they make longer studs in the smaller diameter?
Thanks again

Small-pattern studs are 7/16, same as pre-metric Chevy, so they're widely available. Open lug nuts, too. Summit has them, so should Jeg's.
You'll need a puke tank for the coolant if you don't already have one.
Remember to bring some shoe polish or whatever for your dial; I generally go through a bottle every couple of races from guys borrowing mine!

If you decide to go with the Summit brand lug nuts be sure to run a tap through them before you use them.

Until you speed it up, I would take it to the track and go racing.

They will tell you what you will need, but if nothing major is wrong they should let you run.

Good luck and have fun.

Make sure the battery switch actually shuts off the engine when you turn it.

Yes, that is what is in the NHRA rule book.

Now in the IHRA rule book however, this is what they allow, and I quote,

"Rubber fuel line/hose is limited to 12" LENGTHS maximum for connection purposes only."

I have two places where I used rubber line, for connecting steel lines. About 18" total. It was at an IHRA track. I argued with the guy. He said 12" TOTAL. I said no, 12" lengthS are allowed. Didn't say how many 12" lengths a guy could use. I wasn't being a dink about it, but I wanted to race. He let me race.

Just a different way it's worded I guess , but it means two totally different things.
