in the 80's i bought this car for an outragous sum of 7k, a year latea sold it to Paul Sulof for a whopping 10k, big profit huh? hate that hind site stuff! anyway it was red with argent shaker,15" ralleys, 4 speed with hurst shiter boot racer brown cam, aluminum water pump housing and a yellow accel coil, black grand coupe interior package, leather, overhead consolet, but no coupe badging, have not seen another one since, was this rare? last heard this car was in cinnci. ohio, any body out there have this car or know of it's whereabouts, don't have any #'s on the car. JUST CURIOUS.

overhead consoles are pretty rare, standard on Challenger SEs and Barracuda Gran Coupes, but I believe it was available as an option on everything else.
sounds like a cool car.

If you ordered leather in a 'Cuda, you were to get the Gran Coupe trim including door panel woodgrain and the overhead console.
Paul is a member on this board (viperakron?) and may chime in - I'm sure that the car is still around...
when i bought the car it had the orignal paint and rust, had no signs of ever being badged as a gran coup, so

There was no Gran Coupe option available on a Cuda, Gran Coupe's and Cuda's were thier own sepperate models. But as YYZ pointed out, many of the Gran Coupe INTERIOR appointments were installed on Cudas when ordering leather seats. When ordering leather seats you could get the overhead consolette with felt headliner & wood grain door panel inserts with Cuda emblems. Outward trim and appearances were standard Cuda....PERIOD!
The Hemi Cuda I once owned was originally equipped this way. It was B3 Ice Blue, black leather interior, overhead consolette, wood grain inserts in door panels, black vinyl roof and spent most of it's life in the S.F. CA Bay Area.
i understand what im being told, thanks for the info.

In 1970, when I came back to Detroit from the service, I bought a new Barracuda Gran Coupe (traded my '65 plymouth in). It was a 383 4 speed car and did in fact have an overhead console and a leather interior. It also had a flat hood and "gran coupe" badges. When I bought it, I was told by the dealership that the 383 was the biggest engine available in the Gran Coupe. Kept it until getting married and kids started coming along.

That's correct, the 383 2 barrel (L code)and the 383 4 barrel (N code) were the largest engines available in the Gran Coupe model. The flat hood was standard but the dual scoop Rallye Hood was available, as was the rear trunk wing. Both were rare options on Gran Coupes.
This is an original Gran Coupe N-code 383 convertible.

Scott - do you know if the pedal dressup treatment was included with the leather option?
Seperate option for these cars.
