i have the oppotunatey to get a couple of passes on a comp prepped track this saturday afternoon for free. i'll be lucky to get 3-4 passes so was thinking about trying a carb spacer for an e.t gain. what spacer would be the best to try, a 4 hole or an open? the motor is a -1 headed ported on a 512 low deck running low 700hp with a 1025cfm 4150 series carb. idealy i'd like a dominator but budget restraints prevent that so i'm thinking a spacer. the verter is 5500 stall rears are 32" with 4.88 gears with max rpm about 7200.

I tried a super sucker 4 hole on a dominator that is a 1" spacer...worked good on the dyno but wouldnt fit under the scoop so I couldnt give you ET figures...a friend tried this same combination on his engine compared to a 950hp and saw at least 40hp gain..(1050 dominator)I think its worth 13hp..

Would depend oin what intake you have... the open
spacer gives you more plenum volume, the 4 hole
keeps the air velocity up.... its a trial and error
thing.... but most stroker engines need the plenum
volume

Try them both and let us know. Generally, 4 hole will improve the carb signal and the bottom end and the open is better for top end. Agree on the plenum volume for you set up, especially with your rpm operating range..

I use both under my Qjet, a 1" four hole ontop of a 1" open injector plate if I run the carb strait on the manifold it feels like its lost 50hp or more, the difference is amasing, on the 440 I use a 1" four hole taperd spacer & a 1/2" injector plate to add a little more plenum the engine even sounds different but then you dont run mufflers so you may not notice a difference in sound

50 hp from a 1" spacer i think i'll try & fit 4, that should be 200hp right? cheaper than nos & there's no maintenance issues.

without the spacer"s" the ute feels as if it falls over its nose at about 1000ft. with the spacer"s" it carrys the nose right through. its quite noticeable, since its only a street 12sec car with full exhast & only 308ci with hyd cam & standard rockers any small gain is easy to notice,

with a big dollar thundering big block you'd be so deafend by your own ego I doult you'd notice.

why dont you try one? & try an exhast too the camaro went from 10.0 to 9.89 with areo chambers
the ute does 13s flat open & 12.88 to 12.6s with full exhast, that includes tail pipe
