i got a big block power steering unit and set it up to the hemi (426) to see where it mounted and it looks like one bolt goes into the block and this hemi block does not have a bolt boss there and looks like possible oil return??? i got to make 2 lil spacers anyways as the reason i stuck it up there in first place because the motor has a crank trigger this is not a resto job
but id like to see how it was done from the factory or even how you have yours mounted
pic of the hemi
thanks toplescuda

The power steering pump mounts to the water pump manifold on a big block or Hemi. (Aluminum in your case from the pic).
The top bolt goes through the ear at the top close to the cylinder head. The lower bolt is the adjustment (slotted) bolt.
I'll see if I can find a pic to post.

Here's a pic from the web.

No, mostly sure the unit you got is for 73 and laters B blocks. 73 and laters steering pumps mounts different than earliers, lowered into engine bay and bolted up to a block provision, water pump housing is diff too, belt chart is totally diff

It could be a later style pump you have, they are completely different brackets.

The correct pump would be a Federal like in this pic (that you posted).
Considering that nothing looks stock about his engine I didn't think originality mattered.
With the right pulleys a Saginaw pump will work.

yeap toplescuda, thats my engine. Is a 400.

earlier cars gor mostly federal than saginaw, but as stated saginaw pumps can be mounted on water pump housing provisions with the propper brackets. They do exist. Second pic posted by SPUTNIK in a front view shows the saginaw pump mounted correctly to earlier engines, so is a prove the brackets exist

has been told the saginaw pumps are less problematic and more efficient ones than federals

I think the 66-68 pulleys are different, but not sure... I went through this on my 67 440 engine after losing the power steering pump and brackets in a move....

I tried over a dozen pumps and brackets, trw, federal, and saginaws and none of them worked.. So what I am trying to say is maybe the right pulleys will work but finding them can be like looking for gold.....

well here is what is going on
as you can tell im not really caring about a stock look or resto with this motor
we have a 74 challenger that the hemi will be going into right now it has a 440 in it with power steering the power steer pump is the oval neck and all works good
the hemi has a crank trigger on it so makes the bottom pully stick out half inch or so more
i made a lower mount alt. bracket and it lines up and all is good with that so last thing is the power steer i didnt want to rob it off the car to mock it up so i can make the spacers(wich has to be done because the crank trigger) so i got a steer pump that cam in a big block ralley (72) charger unaware that there was 3 differnt big block setups so after seting the extra one up to the motor just trying to see how it was to bolt up and looking at my manual steer cuda that was setting right in front of me had the hood up i seen that a a bolt hole boss is in the block that the hemi dont have so for now im back to getting a pair of brackets like the challenger has bolt them to the extra pump so i can mock it up and machine spacers where ever i want it to set
