John,

I believe you are a stand-up guy. Having said that - no mention of these connectors being "Blems' was made to me at the time I got them from you. This is the first I am hearing about this. The deal was that you originally needed a 70 Challenger to try your new connectors on, and were going to give the first set to me for free to see how they fit. That was supposed to be at Carlisle that year, but you didn't have them until the NATS. At the NATS you told me that you had already worked out fitment issues, and you had, I believe, 3 of the first pairs with you. Because you had originally offered them to me for free, you sold them to me for $100 instead of the price you were going to sell them for. I still have the bottom sections of each connector, as I was going to make my own sides, but never got to it. If you will take them back and send me a correct set that would be great.

Thanks, Dan

Is it possible that the convertibles had a slightly different floor pan for reinforcing (stiffening)the body due to it being a convertible and having no roof, which is a significant boby part ?

Anything is possible. If that's the case, then make two different parts!

Nope, I don't believe that was the case....
(torque boxes & reinforced sills yes, diff floorpans no)

I was with John at the Nats when he had those connectors. From what I witnessed, everyone that showed interest in those connectors was told they were blems and that was why the price was reduced.

I have the frame conectors from US CAR TOOL and the fit on my car was perfect ! I do have a 71 Challenger, not a 70 But I also had both sides of the front floor replaced woth reproduction pans and they still fit great. When Goodmark sent out the first run of fenders for the Challenger , one of thew had the headlamp buckets welded in wrong. I call them up and they had it picked up via UPS freight 2 hours later. You just gotta give venders a chance to make it rite.

WOW!, some people are never happy. He offered to make it right and whether whatever you were told, your still going to argue with others. Goodluck to you, because i would tell you to pound salt after this display.

Unless you have a dog in this fight, I think you should refrain from your comments. Look back at my responses - I already said I would return what's left of the connectors, if he will take them back. JOHN has not responded. And by the way, I'm just stating the facts, and don't appreciate being called a liar by someone who doesn't have first hand knowledge of the deal between John and myself. If you don't like what I write - don't read it. Better yet, block me!

Wow, sorry man, its a public board. I thought if it was out here for everyone to see i could post what i thought too.

I guess if you wanted it to be a conversation between you and John, you should have PM'd him at that point and not continue the post of it.

Whatever, i dont have a beef with you or anyone here, i just find it funny on how things are gone about on a public board---where we can all give our , publicly.

Im sorry if i stepped on your toes or anyone elses.

The XV ones didn't fit good at all on the 70 challenger I installed them on. I had many hours of grinding to fit them. They really weren't even close. So I ended up grinding them so they angled in and I could keep the holes in the crossmember for the fuel/brake lines. Also it had torque boxes, so more work there. But finished, looks factory!

It took me about six hours to install mine on my 70 challenger. I used the US Car Tool ones and I am happy with the result. I think of the precut sub frame connectors as being a starting point. You still need to a marker, a grinder, and a hammer to fit them properly. It was still a lot easier then starting from scratch.
