I have a 1966 valiant with lap belts and I want to convert it to shoulder belts. Is there a common solution like retrofitting belts from a different car or a kit somebody makes?

I put a set in my '70 Dart. I got them from:

What do you do for an attachment point for the shoulder strap and deal with the stock folding seats? Hate to start welding on a finished car.

MadMatt,

I see there are several choices available. Do you remember specifically which ones you purchased?
I'd like to put a set in my '71 Dart GT.

Although not from this same company, I bought a set like this http://gotbelts.com/loshsa.html to put in my 71 Challenger. The 8" drop down on the shoulder strap keeps it from rubbing your neck. I also put a set in a 64 Belvedere wagon that was never equipped with shoulder belts. I made my own mount for the shoulder belt in the wagon, and it's easy to do. You just have to have a little bit of McGyver instinct.

RBstroker,

You do have to perform some interior mods to install the ones I referenced, but mine is not a show car so it was not an issue for me.....the instructions were great........

I used the "Beams Chrome Lift Lever Retractable Lap & Shoulder Belt". I also selected the 12" stiff arm option. By the way, I don't think they will fit with a bench seat. I'm attaching some photos of the installation. Oh, and for those of you that spotted that those seats aren't from Ma Mopar... They are 2002 Mustang seats recovered with '70 Dart seat material and with the chrome strip added to the headrest.
