Mike at Alltrim is selling some of the last remaining NOS gallons he has leftover (hint, it's ULTRA rare). It's on ebay but if you plan to buy it you better get out your BIG wallet. As far as anyone selling a good match, since NONE are an exact match opinions will vary on that one. A few of the better grille restoration guys have thier own formulas that are good enough to get pass OE judges, but most won't sell the paint, just the service (self included). Roger Gibson sells a respectable mix, you might try him. If you want something on the cheap the best bet is to go to a place like Ace Hardware, buy cans of all colors they sell and do a bit of experimenting.

What about Totally Auto at 215-322-2277 or www.totallyautoinc.com? I bought argent paint from them when I restored the grill and tail light bezels on my '72 Charger. As far as I am concerned the color was right there.

DFs,
Not to knock your car or your opinion, but IMO the TA rattle can stuff isn't even in the ballpark concerning color or texture when it comes to originallity.
With all due respect I don't think the original poster is looking for concourse gold recognition. My Charger sits in the fun field at the Nats and looks as good as anyone elses. But most importantly it looks good to me without costing a hemi price.

I never assumed that he did, just posted the range of products I am familiar with (including TA which I've also tried) did you happen to see my low cost alternative in my original post? No need to offer defense on your car, as I already said before, I was not knocking your opinion or your car.
Yes I did see your cheap alternative but I couldn't disagree more. But what I hear you are saying is that you have tried Totally Auto's argent paint and it is not close enough of a match for you, is that right? Anyway, kinkt you can look at the pictures I posted and decide for yourself if it works for you.

I bought the Krylon stuff at Scott's reccomendation for a '67 GTX tailpanel I had. It was a driver quality panel at best and I just wanted to paint it and sell it for a few bucks. I resprayed the stripes and used the Krylon stuff and it looked decently close to a tailpanel I had that was original and as near mint as it gets. I was impressed with what I got for a 5 dollar rattle can of paint. I used the lighter color. To a garden variety person looking at your car there will be no difference.

After buying thier products and comparing them to original samples I find thier claims of thier textured argent spray can product being "Correct" "Restoration Quality" etc. to be inaccurate. Basically a case of over selling/under delivering. As I've said before on other related threads, there isn't a product on the market that is 100% correct, but some get ALLOT closer than others. Some people like the stuff but IMO, TA's isn't even in the running.

I gotta go along with Scott on the Totally Auto stuff.......Did the grille and tail panel on a '71 Challenger. Now don't get me wrong...the job turned out fantastic, but the texture and color is NOT correct by any means. To the everyday car enthusiast at a local car show, it'll get you marks in a show, but it still ain't right. A cheaper alternative is all it is, and it is good at THAT only. I got what I wanted, and that's what counts.

If you start buying paint keep in mind that the word "Argent" simply means silver, it is just smooth metallic silver paint, that's what the Mopar argent wheel paint is on that site you posted the link to is. Textured Argent is the one with the big flakes that gives it the sand paper like finish.
True, and I don;t understand all the displeasure with Totally Auto's offering. If anything it has TOO MUCH texture (maybe thats your experience too???) I did my Cuda grill in TA Medium Argent. It looks great. BETTER than stock. I repeat BETTER than stock. Maybe its application technique (it is finicky stuff) as I did some testing and when sprayed from about 12", three semi-light coats, the texture is the deepest I've ever seen from a rattle can. Under slight magnification this stuff looks like pumice stone. Not like sandpaper, but rather like metal crystals bonded in a coarse manner. I can post pics, but not from the computer I am on, unfortuantely.
