Stock 400 with ~80,000 miles on it.

Mix of highway/town driving what do yo think it will get for gas mileage...I'm guessing ~13-14???

13-14 on the highway maybe. Really depends what it's in and rear gear too.

This is all I know for now. I don't know the rear end.

Thinking of buying a car for a daily driver, the one I'm looking at has the 400 ('73 Charger).

I buy Neons for daily drivers, cheaper and better mpg's.

Yeah, the Charger has no interval wipers, no power windows, no 12 speaker system, or fuel injections for easy starts but it would be a lot more fun...

I had quite a few 400's when new. Highway only at around 70MPH they got 15MPG in trucks and 17-18 in cars. Subtract around 2MPG for combined city/highway. That was with 3.21 gears and of course in good tune with tight timing chains.

My 73 400 that is stock except for a mild cam, a 1970 383 intake, headers, and a 670cfm Holley Street Avenger gets less than 10mpg around town in my 73 Charger with 2.45 rear gears.

Cruising!
Many years ago, I drove a Chrysler Newport with a 400. It was a stock, low horsepower 400. Don't recall the axle ratio, but it was fairly economical cruising on the highway. (16-17 mpg)

BOLD option at quote is something I would LOVE to get, but impossible on a hidden wipers

Oh and about the thread... with 3:23 on 27" tires, I was getting around 400-450 kilometers on higway with one tank
