Looking to piece together a '69 HP 383.

I have a Holley 4160 (LIST-4367)

What is the difference between Manual & Auto carbs?

Can someone give me the run down as to what determined whether
an engine recieved a Holley or Carter carb?

Thanks

manual carbs did not have the kickdown linkage. may also have slightly different jetting.
usually holleys came on non-hp 383s whereas the carters did. however iirc some hp383s
did come with holleys on certain model years.

1969 383 HP had a Carter, 70-71 383 HP had Holley. The 4967 is for a 1970.
The difference could be the jetting, but for sure the base idle and fast idle speed is different, so they had a different part numbers for each engine/trans combo. So the assembly line would pick the correct part number and it would be set up how the engineers wanted them to be.

yes the 4367 is for a -70 383 hp-4speed.it has 1-9/16" primarys and 1-3/4" secondaries.the auto trans 4368 has a lid held with 2 screws on the body on the throttle side, with a valve something behind the lid.the 4speed 4367 have no lid there and the holes for the screws are not threaded, and there is a small plugg in there instead of the valvesomething.
