I've also heard 5 1/2" wide.

I just measured one at 5.5" I think some of the plain steel rims are only 5"

Small bolt rallye rims are 5 1/2 inches wide while black steel rims were also 5 1/2 wide when using the same E7014
tire.
Standard width for a regular black rim was 4 1/2 inches for tire size less than the E7014 size

14" plain steelies are 4.5 except for the 340 and big block cars which got 14x5.5
