I am installing the AndyF motor plate in my Dart and after reading all I can find on running a mid plate, I am quite frankly, confused.

I use a poly trans mount.

So can I run just the plate with engine limiters or is a mid plate necessary? Mancini didn't recommend one; so I figured it wasn't necessary; but then I got to reading and well I became unsure....

Your thoughts please

Stock style chassis we don't use a mid plate,on full chassis cars we do.If we use a front plate only we use a solid trans mount. With a motor plate and mid plate we use a rubber or poly trans mount. We use limiters if needed. Our front engine plates are 3/8" thick.

If your installing a motor plate why not use a mid plate. Much easier to intall the engine and you'll be welding anyway. Just a couple of more tabs. It's also real nice when changing converters. I use a motor plate. mid palte and use my stock tranny mount as the limiter. No problems so far.

My chassis is tied together very good with the cage i have. If you have a regular car without a killer cage you need some rubber somewhere.

The rubber trans mount AND engine limiters on both sides is a good idea if your car leaves hard. Cracked bellhousings can result from too much flexing. Had it happen this year, mostly caused by running 1 limiter, then dumping in a bunch more torque with the big motor we put in.

This is a tube chassis car with front and rear 1/4" plates.

I wouldnt run all 3 solid.... front plate, mid plate
and a standard rubber trans mount with limiters
(at least 1 limiter)... reason for not running all
3 solid is flex... go back to your old math class
and you can have 2 points in a line but add a third
and that one doesnt have to be on the same line
even if it starts out there... you induce flex to
the chassis and the third point is no longer on the
same line... the weakest point is the trans tail
shaft(most of the time it breaks at the speedo hole)
As to the limiters... vertical plates dont add much
to the fore/aft stability.... hence the limiters

I seen someone in a nice Chevy, do something A$$ backward, rubber motor mounts and a solid trans mount. I don't have to tell you what happen next when he nailed it.

I set mine up from the 2 machined holes at the rear of the case. I'm just mocking them up now. I can't tell from your picture, is that where yours attach? Have you ever had any trans case issues?
Thanks Doug

I am such a moron. I had the screen tilted on my laptop so the picture was not in focus. Your mounting is the same as mine.

My car is still under construction.
I used the two rear transmission tabs, but I machined them out for thin bushings. My front mountings are both bushed with polyurethane (I think) homemade bushings. (Street car)
