seems like it would be a good idea even in a slower car. i hear they're fairly expensive?

I have the professional series hans with the quick release tethers. You can purchase them directly or most any of the helmet manufacturers can sell them and install the helmet post. In 2008 they introduced a more cost effective sportsman series. Here is a link to their website http://hansdevice.com/site/index.html

I went to the PRI show 3-4 years ago and tried on all of the restraints that were there and the Hans was the most comfortable for me. The tethers will only let you turn your head so far but I had no problem turning my head 60 degrees or so to the side. I race heads up so I don't race the stripe like a bracket racer would.

I've never seen a fast big block so I don't know.

After having neck surgery I thought I would be a good idea to get one. I bought mine from Stroud Safety. I bought quite a bit of stuff that day and they discounted it but it was still over $900. I have yet to race with it however.

I guess its like life insurance, you hope don't use it for a long time.

Before I would let my son road race his 5.0, I got him a Hans, it was a no brainer for me.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
