there were 4 383's available in 1969
383 2bbl 290HP , 9.2 ADVERTISED , actual was lower , will have an "R" stamped on the ID pad
383 4bbl 330HP , 10.0 ADVERTISED , actual was lower , anything that could be order with a 383 except below , no HP stamped on ID pad , Road Runner and Superbee with A/C should have this engine.
383 4bbl 330HP , 10.0 ADVERTISED , actual was lower , Dart and Barracuda ONLY , should have HP on the ID pad , I'll have to look at my car to confirm
383 4bbl 335HP , 10.0 ADVERTISED , actual was lower , Road Runner and Superbee ONLY , this one will be stamped HP on the ID pad .
The difference between A body engine and the 335HP engine is the exh manifolds , the difference between these and the 330 HP engine is the 330HP engine has the same cam as the 2bbl 290 HP engine , will have HP exh manifolds.
I'm sure someone will correct me .

That's my dart. It has a standard 383 in it now with a epoxy repaired block crack , so I was looking for another engine or block, and I came across the 383HP.
unless the HP is low miles and ready to run ORIGINAL you'll need to rebuild it and it won't matter what it WAS , you can't buy EXACT replacement pistons so you'll have even LOWER compression ratio unless you deck the block , which could remove the stampings you will be paying EXTRA for , and an exact replacement cam is not available ... otherwise have fun
If it's been rebuilt no telling what you'll get

The 383-2 bbl motor had dished pistons,no windage tray or baffles.429 lift cam and the "red" springs wo/damper.I think the 330 h.p. cam was ground on 115 LC instead of the 335 h.p.which was 113 LC.Both had the same.455 lift.
Leave the gun.......take the Cannoli's....Mike

According to my 69 FSM the 330HP has the same cam as the 383 2bbl , which is the same cam as the 440 350HP engine . also If I remember correctly I took a 402 pan off a 68 383 2bbl that i pulled from one of my untouched winter beaters , it had the 402 pan it it , which had baffles ...

Dave , no 6qt. pans on the 383 , they all used the 402 pan in a B body and E body

Mine came with one,...I bought my '69 Road Runner with 30,000 miles on it, it had one on when I bought it. Maybe the previous owner installed it. Bought it in '76.Dave

HP's also had a windage tray. 70's had a 5 qt pan.
Mine had a Holley with the N96

Which 6 qt. pan was it , the 66-69 HEMI pan or the later 70-71 pan ? obviously the 70- 71 was not available on anything in 69 , the other pan could have been a factory goof , the problem was there was no 3/8" pickup available for the 66-69 hemi pan ...
I say previous owner installed it , not factory
