I just had my car repainted and I need to put a new "'Cuda" emblem back on the tail panel next to the lock cylinder. Can anyone tell me exactly where it is supposed to be?

That opens up a can of worms usually, will it be just the "cuda" emblem or with the "by Plymouth" badge as well?

Meh... I don't really care about the "By Plymouth" part... I didn't really know there was two ways...

What was correct for AARs? Or is there some controversy there....?

My car isn't SUPPOSED to have either... it was a Gran Coupe originally.

I always thought the "By Plymouth" started in 71?

But existing is basically all I do.

I use to think so too,...but I've seen a few 70's over the years with the "plymouth" badge,...I know it usually creates a debate sometimes

The "by Plymouth" is 1971 and up .

The 70 Cuda emblem is in line with the trunk lock. The first picture posted by Dayclona is correct.

Agreed "By Plymouth" was 71 and up, if someone has an ORIGINAL example of a 70 with one I'd like to see it!

Location was (intended) per the diagram snoopy posted, however, it wasn't all that precise when it came down to line workers applying them, I've seen them vary by quite allot from one example to the next.

Snoopy,
- Does that drawing show a revision date associated with the "'Cuda" emblem losing its pins?

Yea, I have always wondered when they decided to change from pins to adhesive, beyond a pilot car and prototypes, I've never seen a documentable example of a regular production line car with the pin style. Years ago someone was selling a good replica of the pin on style and a few (incorrectly) made it onto a few older restorations, so it's a bit difficult to document originals. Next there's the "Argent vs Black" paint detailing questions....

The print lists two emblems.
70 (F) - 3446960
71 (G) - 3570071

The original date on the print is 4/9/69 and is titled - Adhesive Backed N/Plate Deck Opening Lower.

71 (G) mods were added 9/26/69.

71 (G) part number 3570071 was added 12/10/69.

My 70 Oct 6 Cuda had the Argent finish and was adhesive backed. When the car was stripped for paint, the back panel was examined very closely for signs of previous holes and none were found.

One of the other members has posted a picture of the 71 print showing the emblem layout for the Plymouth/Cuda emblems. Maybe they will repost the picture?

Wasn't the by Plymouth emblem located differently on the 72-74 cars? Or maybe that's just on regular barracudas. I'm out on the road and don't have my notes handy.

It probably doesn't help much, but my 'Cuda is a June of 1970 car, and it had the adhesive 'Cuda emblem without the by Plymouth emblem.

Yes, it varied in location from year to year

1970 Cuda's did not have the "By Plymouth" emblem regardless of the build date, it wasn't added until the 71 model year.
