I am restoring a 69 superbee. the broadcast sheet says it was built with a white vinyl top. I have found some remnants of the top under the moldings and it appears the top had some gold color in the grain.
Would anybody know if this is this normal in all white tops? or what is this type of top called and is is this material available for my restoration.

All '69 b-body factory white vinyl tops were "pearlescent" like your remnant.

& it appears it was all Dodge & Plymouth models, not just the "Bs".

Check out the Plymouth Trim book it actually calls it "pearlescent white"

thanks for the fast response guys. i did not know if this was a standard V1W top or if it was something different. i am hoping this pearlescent white material is available in the aftermarket.

Redmond, Wa,
From everything I have heard, read, and worked with, the pearlescent white
tops and interior were for the 67-68 model years, and went to standard white
from 69 and up. I know the interior is that way. I have not seen what I call
a gold pearlescent white, on a 69 or newer Dodge/Plymouth cars.

My two 68's with white tops, definitely have a very noticeable gold pearlescent.
It is a very great look, it really looks great in the sun. Maybe some early 69's
got some gold pearlescent white tops, not sure.

Dan
