Are these intakes good for anything?
I have the opportunity to pick them up but don't really have a use for them at this point, just shelf fodder, or would be willing to pass along to a needful member.

I've been dragging around a cast iron 67 440 intake for years, I'd have already gotten rid of it but nobody was willing to pay the shipping even though it was offered for FREE! I don't have the heart to toss it, or the will to package it up anymore for shipment, so now I just use it as a prop stand to photograph carb restorations

They really do make great boat anchors.

yes boat anchor. I don't have a use, but could get them for someone that might need them for something...
yes a 2006000 and a 3512501.
Again nothing I need

Are they still making them any more? Thats what they used to say about the stock exhaust manifolds too. I wouldnt throw away if I had them.

I got rid of some stuff like that when scrap prices were high.

I been living that creedo for the last 20 years , the last time I moved it took me a month because I won't toss anything because someone might need it ... I'm finding out NO ONE really needs it , I'll be THROWING OUT tons of stuff over the next year , I'm tired of looking at it , storing it , tripping over it ... etc , etc ... just in case someone MIGHT want it .

I guess what I surmise is that IF you can find a buyer, $25.00 would be about right. If you can't sell them and if it's no problem storing them, you may want to just sit on them, as someday in the distant future they will be harder to find (dates codes etc.) and that's why I don't just scrap mine

The 66 intake is worthless, there were no musclecars built in 66 with 440's and the intake doesn't flow as well as later designs. The 71 may have some value, it was a better design and they were still making R/T's and GTX's in 71.

Well Sheldon, I won't argue that a 66 intake is a dog, but I will argue the Musclecar comment. I had a 66 Chrysler 300 with a 440TNT, sure it was a C-body, and certainly no Hemi Cuda, but I think any car with a "440 TNT" in it qualifies as a Musclecar

OK, so I reinstalled my stock iron intake that came on my 67 R/T when I rebuilt the engine..

The only reason I would change it would be weight savings.. BUT I don't want to go through the problems of ANY of the attachments to the intake ( trans pressure linkage, throttle hold down, coil hold down, and etc) not having an attachment point.. Been there done that too many times as a kid in a hurry to " put that holley on".....

ARE there any stock type of intakes that bolt on with all the correct holes in them for accessories????

Old Edlebrock CH4B aluminum intakes are a good "replacement" style intake (make good power too) with all factory hookups (If I remember correctly anyway). Most people would mistake them for astock iron intake iof you ground off the numbers.

Scott: How many of those 5000lb musclecars are missing their original intake do you think? And I'll run one of those musclecars with my pickup truck anytime.
Don't get me wrong, I like C-bodies and especially 300's however I just don't think there are going to be any of them looking for an original intake manifold. Those cars aren't worth restoring if the engine is gone and if the engine is still in there chances are it's totally stock. Hence no market for a 66 440 intake.

I used to keep old stuff too because I thought maybe I could sell it for like $10 to someone who really needs it. But nobody's interested in most of this junk unless you give it to them for free and pay the shipping out of your own pocket. Things like stock intakes and exhausts are not hard to find and don't have a lot of demand either. These days I pitch stuff like that in the trash just to clear up some room.

Still one of the best dual plane intake's after all these years.

No arguement as to the market for 66 intakes Sheldon, I was only "un-writing off" the 66 440's

*As far as racing your truck, I'm not sure what truck you mean but be careful choosing off a 440 equipped 66 300, they are a tad quicker than most might think!

Might wait for scrap prices to go back up. Rather than getting ten cents you might get a couple of bucks. I've got a hay wagon full of extra worthless parts just in case I need them in the future or there's a run on 383 2bbl intakes but when I start tripping over it then it has to go. There's a big part of me that hates scrapping the stuff but they can build 4 or 5 new cars out of one recycled 440 intake manifold.
