Now if we can only get Charlie to go along with the deal. He has a car i think he paid 300 for it and there is not one thing that he will farm out. Chuck

First off it ain't ever going to happen with Charlie. But with that being said it can be done if he wanted to. Down the track at least 8.50 with new parts. I could figure it but that is a lot of work.

We are talking about a what if car with Charlie doing all the work. No Jennings in the picture. Just parts no labor at all. Chuck

It would be about impossible to build for under $75K, even using used parts, I know. Dyno - Gold Coast hemi

If you really look at it considering what they started with and the time it took do (6 weeks) and the cost. His body man did a hell of a job

Sue is right. Can't be done if you want to go a minimum of high eights. Island Hemi bought so long ago it was with Confederate money. Just kidding Chuck, your LO23 is BAD! CW could do the work himself but no eights with a budget of even $50k. Lets ask John Holt, Ken Keir, and Mike Roth what they could build a high eight second SS/AH legal car for. They can eat the labor. No attempts at Best Appearing trophy.

How much for pipe, plumbing, wiring, drivetrain, wheels and tires, brakes, basic interior, decent Barracuda/Dart body, glass fenders and hood, and minimun bodywork to get it in primer? It needs to get through tech, not park by Bucky or Bales.
You can find an old round port RBRE with a crossram used for about $25k that will go eights and you are already halfway through your budget.

Bernie: Thanks for the compliment. I can see i can't win this argument. I think this biggest problem is most guys have to hire every thing out. Most Chassis are 65 to 125 depending on how much u want them to do. Paint is 10-20 depending. Interior another 5. A good engine 65 and up now I have a new Cuda sitting in my basement now 25.5 cage, carbon fiber front, lamb brakes the hole smash It is still primer but other than that i could run it. Less than 50 in it less motor Chuck Chuck

Guys it can be done for around $60.If you do all the work your self. That is for a car that will run 8.80 to 90s.If your farming the work out then the skys the limit. It's a big jump for 80s to 50s.The cage and motor are what hit you.My old junk ran 9.0s but it was really just a old KOS car.It was 3,500lbs.Had a small tire 10.5 on it too.Lenny

You are correct. A CAR can be built for that kind of money, but that is not a legal ss/ah car. Big difference.

Lil Joe just called me and told me that Tim Hebert won the race at Texas!!!!
Lil Joe went out 2nd round, but Tim came through!!

That is 2 weeks in a row that the team has won races.
Lil Joe won 2 last week, and now Tim won this week!

Here is the increments.

Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed

Exactly why would it cost more to build a class legal car? I'll stand by what I said, a guy like cw could build a legal car as fas as what he's got for less than 70 if he did all the work himself,of course if he did that I'm sure he wouldn't have the time to devote to what he does best

Yea, probably. But the orignal debate gentlemen was if it can be done for 30K...
