It's best to stick with the correct year grille.

It has been awhile since I visited Moparts; however my user name '73 cuda project has turned into a '73 to '70 clone. As previously mentioned the header panel is totally different between the '70 and other years. At first I thought this was the only difference; however since I started the project before the aftermarket fenders were available I cobbled together parts from various old fenders and discovered a difference in more than just the side marker lights. I am not exactly sure what the part of the fender is called; however take a close look at the differences just in front of the plate which bolts the fenders to the upper part of the radiator support. The '70 fender has an extra metal part which sort of dips down. I recall doing a mock assembly and I think the difference does help make the '70 fender fit better than if only the header panel was changed.

Since I bought a '70 header panel I never actually tried to install the '70 grill in the '73 header panel so it might actually be possible.

FYI I worked for hours this past weekend getting my shop cleaned up and hope to once again get motivated to make a push to complete my project.

This morning I recalled more details about the difference between the '70 and '73 type fenders. the '70 fender has a plate on inside part of the front which sort of dips down and ends up supporting the header panel. I am not sure if the '71 fender has this same setup.

hej, very good reading, but could you please post pictures of the differences of the fenders that would be great,i would like to verify whats on my -70.cause on the outside of the fender its got the -70 sidemarker but on the inside there is also what looks like a 72-74 side marker indent(sort of).thing is i might need a new fender and the deal breaker is if its the right one to my 70 or not,if right i will repair it.or if anyone else has pictures to find out the difference between a 70 -72.
