Is there a certain range of file fit rings that will work with a certain bore.

I have 4.070" bores (30 over 340) but since I am filing the gap, could I use file fit rings for a bore +/- a certain amount? For example a much more common file fit ring for a 4.060" bore in a 4.070" bore? How about 4.065" in a 4.070"

You would need a 4.075 ring.

So long as the end result is that you have the correct gap of "X" it doesn't matter if you are starting with 4.060 or 4.070. But I think it you try, there will be too much end gap using a 4.06 ring in a 4.070 bore. Not to mention the tension might be a little lighter. That may be a good thing in a race engine... I always use the .005" larger ring.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.
