9.99 is the cut off, so either you want a roll bar and you'll be legal to 10.00 or you can put in a roll cage which will have more bars, but will cert to 8.50.

Yes. That is why I said 9.99 specifically. Maybe to be more clear I should have said 8.50. I just don't intend on building a car fast enough to get close to 8.50 but I do expect to be faster than 10.0. That is why I want cage instead of a bar.
I think the only real differences between the 10.0 bar and the 8.50 cage are: front down bars, bar across the front of the windshield, and bar running along the floor near the door opening. From the main hoop back, they can be the same other than going with a cage allows for smaller diameter tubing to be used throughout.
I am looking for installs or install ideas on the shape of the bars and locations that make the cage blend into the interior as much as possible. I want to run in the F.A.S.T. class so I want it to blend in, yet I want it to cert to 8.50 to have flexibility to run in other classes too.

It would seem that the most visible part of the cage would be the front down bar at the windshield & dash area, mostly when the door is open. The 66, 67 b bodys have very little dash area to run the bars through it. most people stay in front of the dash itself. The nostalgia type series of racing want you to have basically a full interior so you must leave clearance for interior trim panels and headliner. so you cant really hide a cage. On my 67 coronet sedan I wanted the front bar away from the door opening for ease of entry and exit so I went through the dash. However I made the dash two pieces. it will take alot of fab to finish it off right.

The rules allow for ONE BEND in each pipe,
Not true.
Even a main hoop has 2 bends, the halo bar has at least two bends, roof bars going to the back trying to keep them tight to the headliner usually have AT LEAST two bends each.
Here are some pics of mine. My buddy John did a lot of the fab work. Front bars are under the inner fenders. Bars go through the dash. Cross bar under the dash, halo bar above the top of the side windows, rear bars tight to the roof.
You can't completely hide it all, but you can do it pretty well. The sunshade at the top of the windshield hides the halo bar from the front view, but it's pretty tough to hide the a-pillar bars from a front view...
