my knees arent getting any better. due to that, im trying to make my duster easier to drive, which means the manual brakes have to go.
im looking to upgrade to power brakes. i already have the car set up with 11.75 rotors on slider calipers on the front, and 11X3 finned drums on the rear. even with this setup, the car has always required a ton of pedal pressure to stop. im using a stock 70 style disc/drum master and a 73 disc/drum prop valve.
i have seen two different appearing boosters for this car. the fisrst is one with 4 studs on the back. this probably wouldnt work on my car, as i have studs from my 4 speed pedals where my current master bolts on. the other boosters have a large plate on the back of it, that appears to raise the height of the booster, as well as adapt it to studs.
so, what do i need?
how much vacuum do i need to properly run a booster?
is there bigger problems that im just not seeing and thats why my car already requires so much pedal pressure?
also, is there enough slack in my brake lines to fit the new power booster, or will i need to order fresh metal lines?
lastly, cardone has different master/booster combos listed for the 70 and the 74. which do i want? im assuming 74, as that is the origonal application of my wheel cylenders, prop valve, and calipers.
