It was hard not to like Eddie & Ercie
A true gentleman and class act of the sport.
Back when I really enjoyed and paid to watch top fuel.

Eddie Hill used to race TF drag boats at here in Chowchilla he set the MPH record back in the 82 at 229 MPH. I still have a set of piston rings out of that motor that Eddie signed the masking tape on them.I was 13 at the time and my dad was volunteering at the race. Eddie broke the throttle pedal on the boat so my dad ran him into town and we fixed it.Everything on that boat was built like paper to come to Chowchilla to set the record. I'll never forget him tying that red bandana around hise face and givin me a thumbs up before we pushed him off to the hold line. Someone yelled give em HELL Eddie....he said I'm too good a christian for there....and off he went.
I actually also have a portrait called 229 signed by Eddie...Kenny Youngblood did it.

What a life... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Hill

That hull on that boat in his show room is so thin you can see your hand under it from the back side. It was built just for Chowchilla and the record run.

Heres the Youngblood print http://www.frecksautoart.com/drag6.html
