Any thoughts on how to build a 416 to hit 11's in a street car? Im planning on building one soon and was wondering if my combo would hit 11s or not. Going into a 73 cuda.

Depends on if your willing to run some gear and a stall converter. Then your going to need the right cam, compression etc. Really need to define what street means to you. Pick one of the builders that answer many questions here in the race section and you can't go wrong.
Ok now I see the four speed info. That makes thinks somewhat easier, except for traction maybe.

i am seeing them run ten-30-40's in race car trim.
i dont see why 11's in street trim wouldnt be more than possible.

My old cuda ran 10.90s with a 416 on pump gas. Street car all the way, drive it for hours if needed. 3.91 gear....Phill

LAR414 has one as well. Mid 11's will be no problem at all with the right parts. Jim

To me street means that the car is not all gutted for weight reduction, no slicks (although drag radials are acceptable). Im not in anyway considering running freeway gears, but at the same time nothing like 4.56s or anything that is too low for the street.

My 69 Dart weighed 3500. It was tagged and insured. My times were on 9" slicks. 11.08 @ 120 mph. 11 teens and twenties in the heat were no problem. Ran a 4.30 gear with a 29.5" street tire. I could cruise 55 to 60 mph at 3200 rpms. I wouldn't want to take it vacation but for short cruises it was OK. Jim http://www.cxpressphotography.com/asccus...avParent=121400

Callie main and rod bearings with that friction reducing stuff..
KB forged step pistons 22.5 CC
Scat H-beams
Eddy heads ported by Ryan.. also shaved to obtain a chamber volume of 57cc.. which makes compression ratio 10.9:1
Heads flow about 280-ish cfm intake and 235-ish exhaust

Custom Ground Comp Cam 256/262 @ .050" Duration
108 LSA
.635"/.632" With Crane gold 1.5 roller rockers
Comp roller lifters
MSD billet dist.
MSD Digital 6 ignition box

I ran a '65 Dart all summer with a very mild 416 on pump gas. Went 11.70 in the 1/4 but 7.37 in the 1/8th. Don't choke it off with crappy heads like we did. Ours were stock unported 360 heads with chevy valves, and it just lays down after the 1/8th mile. Changing them out for next year. Car was 9.5:1 compression on pump fully tagged and street driven. We run slicks for the track, but it 60ft hard enough it needs them. Car is just nasty fast till the 1/8th and should run low 11's early next season. The 416 is a torque monster that doesn't need a ton of gear to go really well.

No problem with a stroker. I drive my Cuda on the street...totally street able package (for me anyway). Even drive the wife and kids around with it.

360, Eagle 4 inch steel crank, Diamond pistons, Scat I-beams, ported eddy heads (Thanks RyanJ), air-gap, proform 750 dp, small solid roller cam, 8" converter, 4.10 gear, 10.8:1 compression on pump gas.

Still tuning, current best in sig, but I KNOW I will get this thing into the 10's next year (after swapping the intake and carb for a Victor and a 950).

67 Barracuda street car, 408, e85, 1.38 60', 6.44 @105.9 in the 1/8 mile, 10.19 @130.5 in the 1/4...so far....

I agree.. there is soemthing wrong with my combo, I think I should easily be in the 10's.. but thats for another post at another time..

In my defense, I still have air shocks and the wrong offset wheels which causes tire rub.. So before I can get serious cutting down the ET, I'll need to get better weight transfer.. until then, its a street car that I enjoy in this beautiful Calif weather..

I went 11.80`s years ago w/a iron headed 360+.030 daily driver and it definately was nothing special. Stock heads w/mild clean up solid isky cam, good valve job,10" vert, 3.91`s and loaded my drums up and drove everywhere for gigs up to 100 miles at times so today it should be a breeze as others have stated especially at 416 cubes.

I've never been in the 12's with my stroker, since I built it like 7 years ago, at least never on a full run. The first time down the track was 11.85 and ran 11.07 last year with the automatic trans. First run with the stick and ran a 11.9 missing 3 gears and blowing the tires off.

Mine is very much a street car. No need to restate what I do with my car, and where I go with it.

These 4" arms are FUN!!!!

James(TheOtherDodge) had one several years ago that ran 11.4's or 11.3"s as I recall. Perhaps he will see this and post. Jim
