How much HP can a set of original max wedge heads make with porting. What besides the yearly 4 bolt valve cover and rocker pedestals should be avoided. I think the part number of the heads im looking for is 518 or are there others? I thought of going to indy -1's but i would like to keep stock heads. Thanks for any input

Original heads cost a ton. Maybe buy the Mopar Performance reproduction heads and have them ported?

We have them on our car and run 10.70's with a 63 Max Wedge intake and 440 block. The car is 3500LBS.
Good Luck!

Yep. Add a P4876337 intake manifold and you'll have a nice top end. Have someone like Dwayne at Porter Racing Heads do the heads for you. He knows how to make those cast iron heads work.

Here is a 440 with the MP max wedge heads and the 337 intake. This is a pretty nice combo really for a cast iron head setup. The 337 intake has a built in valley plate so everything is sealed up. The 337 intake works pretty well with a 4150 carb or you can run an adapter for a 4500 series.

What was the engine combination and what kind of power did it make? I am running a 470(400). MP doesn't make that manifold for low deck do they?

You are out of luck for a low deck motor. There isn't a MW intake made that will work with the factory heads on a low deck. You could use an Indy low deck intake and then weld in a valley tray but that is about it.
