I'd like to see a very detailed list of what all it would actually take to make this swap on a torsion bar car. I've considered selling my whole 500" motor and tranny turn key to go this route. Do these engines come turnkey?
I believe I'd need a new motor plate, tranny adapter and a 904 tranny and converter. Probably a set of custom headers. Oil pan? What else?

The motor will not work with rear steer thats why I said 3k front end 1k oil tanks lines trans plate 600 crank hub 150 to 250 custom headers 1k that will get you going down the track
So another 5-6K to make this a workable package - any possibility to fabbing up a wet sump rear steer pan for them?

These engines will not work with a wet sump. Rear steer and stock K frame are not compatible with this engine. tubular K frame and front steer required.
One of my nascar connections is selling complete engines minus the intake for 7k.... Wish I could have gotten a deal like this back in the day
I also made my plate and drew it up on solid works. Now that I know it works and can show it works I will have a few extra made WITH crank spacer and can utilize stock mini starter unlike another vendor out there selling a POS adapter plate (just so you guys know I'm NOT referring to BondoBob) My plate is also compatible with auto or stick bellhousings...

Ok Guys, now that you have my gray matter churning and thinking this is a viable option. I thank you but my wallet might be at you guys. I am to assume a detailed list of needed parts would be... Motor plate trans plate/adaptor oil pan headers crank hub what else am I missing? this is assuming you have a carb to oil pan motor. Also no need to change the pan in you have a tube car correct?

The mid plate will accept SB bell. The R5 engine does not have the stock mopar bell pattern. The crank spacer will work for fly wheel or flex plate. I made my spacer with the chevy bolt pattern, then used the spacer as a fixture to drill the flywheel... These engine are right around 12:1 from the shops, probably not a good idea to boost them the way they are....

They dont have to be a front steer .I know this for a fact. We bought three of these engines from Chip Ganassi. We put one in a Duster. We had a chassis shop relocate the factory steering box rearward a bit and he re-fabbed the drag-link and whatnot to make it work, but it does not have a rack and pinion. It has the factory steering box and it all cleared fine, although, it may possibly be cheaper to put a rack and pinion in. These are neat engines and we make adapters where I work as well. We have even sold one to a Moparts member !

Do you have any pics of the car?
You must have had to chop the K frame though, when I set my R5 in there was no way it was gonna sit down far enough without removing the some of the K frame or moving the engine way back...

this was gonna be my next question..will it fit with a modified k member..? i figured there would be more room being a dry sump? cheapst.

It can be done "RIGHT " by trimming the factory k-member a good bit and moving the steering box rearward ( and a few other things...I cant say exactly because I dont know exactly...I'm not a chassis man ).
Of course the aftermarket k-member would be super nice as well. Kinda like baking cakes....lots of different recipes and lots of good cakes !
