So the accelerator pump discharge nozzle screws on a Holley mech Secondary carb are 12-28 thread..... which is great & all except for fact Holley selected a size that apparently Helicoil & all other thread repair insert companies DON'T MAKE A FREAKING REPAIR KIT FOR.....

So do I now have a junk otherwise perfectly fine 750 main body?

My frustration level can't even begin to be described.

Ryan.....just use the 12-24 heli coil thread kit.....its such a small amount and is so close you will be fine....break off the cross bar when you get it screwed in...switch over to a hollow screw to hold the shooter down....and use a small steel ball instead of the rocket now.....Jesse...

Well I'll give it a shot.... have to pick up a 12-24 kit @ machine shop in State College & try it tomorrow. It's not an area I really want to "half A**" something, as if that screw comes out, bye bye motor......

It's just assinine to me someone would mass produce a part that does'nt have a readily available thread repair kit for it.... Why would'nt Holley use a 12-24 screw instead of the oddball 12-28? It's just another example of engineers out-thinking themselves & not using common sense.

But thanks for the reply Jesse, I'll give it a shot as it sounds like you've repaired them like this before.

IIRC (and I'm old enough now that I may NOT ), BLP offers a repair kit for that.

I just checked the BLP catalog, they do offer a screw repair kit, it's not a heli-coil though..... It's a reamer & sleeve kit... not sure exactly how it works but I'm going to call & price it & possibly order one right now......

$28 for the BLP kit, he said they sell a ton of them & were almost out. So it's on it's way, I'll post my results on this thread when it gets fixed.

I found out about those ? last year. It worked quite well and I now keep a few in stock.

I still upgraded the main body anyway...

I miss having high idle and choke!

That is a good one, I never have heard it before. For the increase in how the car ran it was well worth a little footsie in the garage before gettin it on!

Ryan, I just installed one of the BLP repair kits in a Ford 3x2 center carb. It's definately a measure twice - cut once deal. After you ream the hole to the right depth, sneaking up on it so you don't ruin the taper at the bottom, make sure you measure the depth and trim the bottom of the insert to length before you Loctite it in. The insert we had was long, and the stackup with the tapered pin and the squirter screw is tight . You'll see what I mean when you get the kit.
