A friend of mine asked where he can get his power steering pump rebuilt that's in his 68 Super Bee. I've never dealt with this issue and thought maybe one of you guys could point him in the right direction. Any recommendations?

If he's not comfortable doing it himself, then try Firm Feel. Good people, good work.

diy OR you can just buy a re-built pump at almost any auto parts store for a few more $$$ than the re-build kit.

I rebuilt two when I was 18 with no problems. The parts store guy used a puller for the pulley for $5.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like he should rebuild it himself.

You can get any rebuilt pump from NAPA for less than $65.Other parts houses may be less and you have a warranty. Most rebuild kits only contain gaskets and seals. That is not rebuilding a pump, rebuilding consists of replacing worn or broken parts.

The full saginaw rebuild kit does come with a replacement bushing to be pressed in.

I don't think the rebuild houses put in new vanes or housings. They may pick from good used parts to replace worn out trashed pieces. Or most likely just pick from the good cores and junk the ones that are really messed up.

Bill, do you know anyone in south central PA who does full rebuilds? My friend is located in Lancaster off of route 30. Thanks.

Sorry, can't help you with that one.For the price of a rebuilt,I doubt you would find someone to do it (an actual rebuild) for less.
