I just bought a new "old" trailer and it's got a large amount of decals on it, and I mean a lot, anybody know any "home brews" that will help get them off? I plan on starting on the smaller ones with a heat gun, but the whole front is covered with a big "flame checkered flag" that will take a long time with a heat gun, the decals are cracking, was going to try to get some off this weekend, and living where I do, I can't just run down the street and get something, any body got any ideas on a home brew that will soften them a bit but won't damage the paint?

I just removed a whole bunch of old vynle stripes off a motormome with eraser wheels from Napa. Its a wheel that is made of eraser(like on the end of a pencil). They only cost 13 bucks and they don't damage the paint on the surface.

They sell stripe and sticker removers,,,at the local auto store,,,, I just removed my tail stripe off the charger,,and it went fine,,,didnt hurt the paint,,etc. They have some that are spray on,,,rub on,,etc. They also sell a "stripe" removing wheel,,,by 3M,,,havent used it,,but might be something to think about....the wheel isnt that big,,,but looked to work great.... i put a link to you tube....which shows the wheel.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHKN5_UfDik&feature=related

denatured alcholol will help reove the adhesives that hold the decals on, maybe once you get one started to peel off it would help speed peeling them rest of the way Let us know what you do and the results please

Thanks every body, Chasisman thats just what I was looking for, this trailer has a huge flame-checkered flad all down the side and it probably looked good when it was new, but if faded and cracked now, it's probably 8 wide and 16 feet long, not a small decal. Got some other small decals on it also, but those will be easy.
Glad I could help...also when you call ask them about plastic razor blade scrapers...or poke around on that site....the plastic doesn't scratch the polyester coating....I used the vinyl off in a weed sprayer for the REALLY big jobs...it's tough work for sure...I usually get three times as much so remove as I do to apply. If you have a hand held propane torch use that it will help.Vinyl HATES to be cold....old or new..If you have a propane weed burner .....even better! http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=91037
