hi
i have a 76 duster with a mild 440 makeing 285 rwhp and 390 rwtorque. car weighs 3450 with me in it. 727, 3.23 gears. im takeing it to the track soon and wondering if i could hit 12.99's on street tires. any ideas or do i need more power.

0-60mph is 5 seconds flat on street tires and a stopwatch

thanks

We really need much more info but I would guess you are making 350 to 375 flywheel hp. My old Dart had about 400 flywheel hp when it had a 383 in it and it was about 325 hp at the wheels. It ran 12.30's best at 3500 lbs but it was in a good tune and had 3.91's in it. It can be done but with the 3.23's I kind of dont think you will hit 12's. My guess is mid 13's. Good luck , Ron

im gust wondering what to shoot for the car has stump pulling torque so a lower gear wouldnt help as much as you would think unless i had slicks to hook the power up. firts gear is next to useless as it is.

ill shoot for a 13.5 then

My truck that has 297 rwhp weighs 3465 with me in it and it runs mid 12s with drag radials and a 9.5" converter.I dont see why yours wont run in the 12s with a decent tire.

If traction is there with your street tires, and you give it as much ign advance as it can take, it should be close.

I second low 13's
what converter but lets say a 2200 and 3.23 gears and no slicks. gotta go with mid to low 13's maybe worse if you get no launch at all

The only thing keeping you out of the 12's is going to be hook up..no traction and you will have a 2 + second sixty foot..I just ran 12.508 at 3760 lbs with slicks and a moderate 440 with 3:91 gears..12.9 with 3:55 gear

Good luck man!

my engine dyno'd 505 at the crank, so I've probably got a realistic 380-400 at the wheels, 4200 lbs, street tires, 4.56 gears and a 5 spd! I'd LOVE to see a 12 second slip out of this beast, but I'll be happy to take home a low 13 second slip.

never had it to the track, but I should find out Sunday what it'll do on street tires.

then I'll have to dig up some cheap wide wheels for some DRs or slicks

I clocked a 13.30 at 106.03, which is the best ET AND mph ever my Duster. It's a 440 and a four speed w/ 3.55 rear gears. It's a mild build like yours and I'm doing it on street tires (BFG's) The 60' on that run was 2.15. It's all about traction brother!
