TCS 123900S (billet steel) $535.00

TCS 123900SH ( billet steel, big piston) $645.00

A & A 22555BSBPWR ( billet steel ) $775.00

Which one would you use, and why?

any of them would be better than a stock, for sure. I have one from CRT been running it for four years ,it's just mild steel (1018) and came with a billet piston. No issues with it and I feel alot more safe and secure. I won't run without it ! I know for sure that A&A's drums are made from 4140 or 4150 steel and heat treated and spun tested,I got a tour through Rick's shop when they were machining the drums and that's why they cost much more.Don't know anything about TCS. I do know that John Cope and Rick Allison are the two best people I have ever dealt with.

In the past the A&A drum was spin tested sucessfully to a higher RPM than some of the other manufacturers steel drums.

I don't know if the others have since caught up ?

A&A from CRT. Because it's a higher quality drum than the TCS. CHIP

A&A all the way, having had a stock drum come apart and brake my foot, push the convertor forward and brake 4 chunks out of the block plus pull the cam freeze plug out, bend the gas pedal over to touch the brake, car on fire, etc. the extra cost was worth it. I run aluminum in race aps and steele in street/strip.

I have the TCS drum & piston combo in mine and have no complaints.

The TCS is a good billet drum , A&A billet drum is the best drum money can buy. I have installed both types, some times I felt that TCS could be machined to a nicer finish and fit. All the A&A drums I have bought/installed have been 100% perfect. If your on a budget, get the TCS, if you what the best of the best, then go with A&A. There is only a $160.00 differance in price between the two in stock piston size.

The bigger the piston the more clamping force/holding power is on the clutches.
lets say that the stock piston is 5 square inchs (its not, I am just useing round numbers to make this easy) you take the PSI(150) reading off the gage and X the square inch

150 x 5 = 750 pounds of applied force
add one square inch to the piston aka big piston
150 x 6 = 900 pounds of applied force

I use big piston billet drums on 900+ HP cars and or NOS / blower / turbo cars.
