Have a 96 Dakota 318, when attempting to cold start, it starts but shuts off immediatley, but if you hold the gas pedal down you can keep it running. But as soon as you let off it shuts off. It has been acting up sporadically for the last 2 months. Pulled code and it indicated that is was the automatic shut down relay. Changed it but that has not corected the problem. Now no code is indicated when this occurs. Any advise or has anyone had this same issue and found the resolution?

IAC motor idle air control due to coking up / sludge you can try cleaning it out sometimes replacement is required. once the new one is installed hold your foot on the throttle for a few mins at 1600 rpm or so the PCM will relearn idle control. if your battery is weak it will also cause the pcm to learn the values of idle.

when the vehicle is warmed up how is the idle good luck
