If you got the coin, go with TTI

A GOOD exhaust shop can bend/fit/hang a system better than any pre-fabbed kit. FINDING the good shop is the hard part.

Best Perfomance, Most OE correct, Best value... What are you looking for???

Performance is probably TTI
OE Correct is Gardener
Value in a fairly correct decent performing system I would use Accurate...

We have a local muffler place that does the BEST work ever.. Goofys in Glenwood,OR. $900 for my 67 coronet.. Plus a tow back and forth and I figure it would have been a cool $1100

I live an hour away from Accurate exhaust.. I was close by on business and stopped to buy there hemi mufflers.. Accurate had the whole setup for my car laid out on the ground while Tom showed me around.. Cut me a deal and I bought the whole shebang... Installed it in an afternoon.. Fits great, sounds great, very very pleased.. I think (its been a few years) I was into it for under $600..

Is it mandrel bent, HECK NO..Looks just like the one that came from the factory under it.. I whole heartedly recommend them....

An local customer just installed a complete system , manifolds and everything back to the and including stainless tips. It fits perfect.

It's a 1971 challenger running the repop 1970 style 340 manifolds.

The ACCURATE system for a 71 Challenger is WAY MORE that $600 with muffler and tips..probally TWICE that. Yes they are nice and look stock and are restrictive like stock and if you have a OE type car, there are not to many choices. I found that for my 71 Challenger R/T , my best choice was TTI. I got the 2 1/2 Xpipe system with Ultraflow Dynomax mufflers and the sound is unreal. Fits like a glove and installed in less than 2 hours. The TTI tips for a Challenger are expensive BUT are a work of art. If you want performance and great sound and are installing it yourself go with TTI. If you want it quiet and OE lookin , go with Accurate.

my buddy just put the TTI 2.5" X pipe Dyno-Ultraflows w tips on his Challenger - andit sounded awesome. And that was on initial fire up. Haven't had a chance to hear it now that the cam/motor is broken in and running. I will put the same setup on my Cuda - already have the mufflers, not ready for the pipes yet - but looks fantastic and feels like top quality stuff - Joe

Yes, it's a 1971 340 clone convertible. And the customer wanted to keep stock appearing so we went with the repop 70 style manifolds for just a bit more performance and still keep it stock appearing to most.

Yes . Everything we used fit with no issues, from the hangers , to the headpipes, to the tips. My customer had no complaints.

Now, the brake cables from finelines was another story.

If you want the best of both worlds buy the muffler with over axle pipe already welded from Dales Cuda shop. Get the resonators from him also. You can get them either way with or without pentastar and date code. For a bit extra the later is the best appearance wise.
Dales also have all the correct looking mounting hardware. Then buy your headpipes from Don's in Paris, Ohio. Aluminized, correct mandel bends and flat areas and fit like a glove...$240 pr $70 shipping....you'll swear its all original
Get a set of NOS tips..there's still lots on ebay or go the repro route

Terry,...all good advice/recommendations,....but I'd spring for the stainless steel tips, as every pair of B or E NOS tips I ever put on a car, turn to crap with rust pits in the chrome, and seeing that the tip is very promident in it's appearance on the Challenger,.....IMHO stainless would be a better choice, esp seeing the OP is from Maine, and that's a harsh climate even in the "summer"

Mike

Yes you are right about the stainless tips Mike. Plus a lot more reasonably priced than NOS

I have the TTI setup on my car -TTI headers to 3" X pipe with Dynoflows to TTI tips. Fits great and sounds awesome.
