i keep wearing out the intake valves in my sr,s.  they are the ones supplied with the heads.is there a better longer lasting valve for these heads? they are 2.19". where would i get them?

I use Ferrea. They flow better and I think they are better quality.
Just ask for the Indy replacement valves and they'll be right.

about how much more cfm?
First, what's wearing out on the valves? The stems, the tip or is the head tuliping? What kind of seals are you running on there and how much guide clearance do you have? I think it's worth going to the larger valve, provided there's some portwork to go along with blending in the larger valve job. Average CFM increase? That I can't tell you but I did get a set of Perf RPM heads to flow 345 with a 2.250 valve and a max wedge port. So I can only imagine how much better the SR's would respond to it.

it is the stems that keep wearing out.i use the viton seal. i thought i read a post awhile ago from dwayne porter about having to do something about the guides in theese heads.

I second the Ferrea, Brian put them in my SR's and I've been extremely happy with the heads and the work he did on them.

I,ve run the sr heads with no excessive stem wear in 8 years.Granted i run a small cam(.620),maybe you have some kind of geometry problem.

my cam is a .661 solid roller.i use indys 1.6 rocker arm kit with a roller tip.the pushrods are the right length.i have this exact combo on three motors.all of them wear the stems to fast.
im rebuilding one now and im trying some 1.7 t&d,s.if that fixes it,i will swap the others over too.

Life ain't as complicated as folks make it out to be and Andy is right--Chevy .100 long and there ya go from anywhere--I think DairyMart has those but the Manleys from Todd will do the trick-- and I bet cheaper than Ferrera which are good too.
