Thanks for all of the replies so far. I've read every one of them. If you're not comfortable posting here you can send me a PM or email me at EdB@CarlisleEvents.com.I know my posts get kind of long but I had something in there that either got lost or wasn't of much interest but I'd like to bring it up again and get some input. I'm trying to create a new "class" of cars - not just for the show but also beyond that. I'm trying to create a class of cars that can be driven and enjoyed. These cars would range from just a little rough around the edges, in other words cars not nice enough for Survivor status, to cars that have some minor rust, well-worn engine bays and interiors that have seen better days. These cars don't have to have their original paint. How many Mopars are sitting in garages across the country waiting to be restored? The car sits while we try to find time and/or money. Why not clean it up a little, go over the safety items, give it a tune-up and DRIVE IT!!! How cool would it be to see a "Barn Find" Road Runner put back on the road still looking a little distressed? Oh, and you get bonus point for vintage items left in place: Sun Tach, big Cragars, 8-Track player, sidepipes (OK, maybe not sidepipes ), psychedelic paint, etc. I'd also like ideas for a name for these cars. Just like Survivor, Pro Street, Resto Mod, Rat Rod, G Machine, etc I think they need a cool name. All I've been able to come up with so far is Throwback, Flashback and Time Machine but I'm sure there's something better out there. Ideas? What do you think of this type of car? I think it's a great way to get some cool cars back on the road and if it's a true muscle car I bet it will get just as much attention as a similar, fully restored car but you won't have to worry about every little mark on it... just Ed

Well,....you could call them "contemporaries", or the contemporary class, as these cars are caught in a "flux" of aged deterioration, and possible futher restoration, restification, or modification,.....and for those that have a distain for seeing them at a show, they can have "contempt" for them ,...hence the name, I for one enjoy seeing old customs, or originals that have been untouched for decades

How about a Best Mullet contest? Since the crowd is getting older, you could have a Best Skullet category.

Believe it or not, one of the younger staff members here has been practically begging me to have a mullet contest at the Chrysler show since last year! I'm not sure what to think about that one. Any mullet "owners" here?? Would you participate and have fun or would this be offensive?
I really can't believe this subject keeps haunting me AND I'm actually considering it

Great idea!
In a sea of pristine restos, it would be refreshing to see something different, rough, in progress, or like they were when they were just used cars. A great name for the class escapes me right now, but I think back to high school. There was always that one girl, not the prettiest, not the most popular, but she always had the most fun and was fun to be around because she wasn't fixated on being perfect...
If I could create a one or two word description for her, that would be what I'd call this class.

Strangely, that's a really good comparison. I think in the case of the car and the girl it's because most of us can relate to the not-so-perfect car/girl more easily. Sure, we all love to look at the perfect ones but unless your pockets are really deep you won't be taking that one home. Hey, maybe the comparison between the cars and the girls isn't so different afterall

"day 2" class
"day 2-3-4-5........." class
"old is new" class
"old as new" class
or even no class just an area to park the group. Once again this will rely heavily on pre-registration to know how big of an area to set aside! I really really want to see the event go to a mandatory pre-registration .....can ya tell?
