Remove the wrought iron posts at the ends of the rows on the way to the back camping area. No RV or even a truck and trailer can make that corner.
I had to pull one out myself. Have the employees directing traffic in that area trained to direct RVs/trailers down the appropriate row to get to that area without worrying about the posts on the corners.

First off, comparing the Carlisle show to the Nats is, well, no comparison IMHO, as far as the show end of it goes. Facilities are better, more organized, etc. My only complaint Ed, and we've discussed this before, is the "newer" cars taking the better ground. I'm not against them being there, but my idea (and others) is when you think of Carlisle shows, you don't really think of cars that are 10 years old, or less. Before I get flamed, I'm not against them being there, as my cars were there not too long ago, but their time is coming. Till it's here, I'd only suggest moving them to the "less prime" areas. Until last year, the late B's have been treated very well, and I realize last year was an oversight. As far as "celebs" go, that doesn't really catch my attention, unless you could get Jesus or one of the Apostles there.....  I suppose if you wanted to mix it up, get an "old school" racer and a "new school" guy? I remember a WPC meet I went to some years ago, being it was in Detroit, we had a meeting with a Chrsyler product planner, and engineer. Basically, if you changed nothing, I'd be good with it.

Anyway, the reason I picked out the Barn Find comment is because I am going to feature Barn Finds in Building Y next year. If you have, or know of, a really cool Barn Find please send them my way. I think this would be a great way to get some really cool cars out of storage and back on the road. The best part is the owner could truly enjoy the car and not sink a ton of money into a restoration.

Not the Theme dealership, that is one of the coolest ideas ever. The poor Chrysler dealership in town that closed. They always threw a real nice party on Thursday night. I think it was great that the towns Mopar dealership opened up for us an threw a party. Everything else is absolutely the best.
That's what I thought you meant but I wasn't sure. As someone else stated there WAS a Kick-Off this year but it was moved to the Dodge dealership in Mechanicsburg (about a 10-15 minute drive). It was absolutely HUGE. Just to give credit where credit is due, that show has always been run by the Mopar Rebellion car club and my wife has been running the show the last couple of years (basically since I came here and can't do both). CVM Dodge in Mechanicsburg will be the home of the Kick-Off into the foreseeable future.

That's a good one and we've been fighting that battle for years with the local hotels but they just won't listen to us. We have absolutely no control over their pricing although people often think we do. We know their high prices are hurting our guests (and thereby hurting us) so why on Earth would we condone or support that practice.
Since we can't persuade the local (Carlisle area) hotels to lower their prices we are working with other hotels in the region (Mechanicsburg, Dillsburg, Harrisburg, Shippensburg, Chambersburg, etc) and encouraging people to stay there. Most of them are convenient to the major highways and are only a 20-30 minute drive (assuming no traffic delays). To be honest, when I travel to Mopar shows I do the same thing and stay a short drive from the show location. But hey, I'm cheap

Eliminate the truck pull stuff..Its really bad and boring...And the bikini contest needs some pre planned help..Otherwise its a great weekend..Maybe some on site events that people can participate in...??

On the give-away cars, I'd like to see 2 instead of one, and they don't have to be numbers-matching stuff, I like the non-high dollar idea. One year was a Mirada, could be fixed up or used for daily use. Like a nice 4 door A body, or 2 door F body? And instead of just having one chance, you could buy more chances to win? I think if you stayed away from the higher dollar cars, you could offer more? Just a thought.

Aw crapp... I've got Sinnamon half ripped apart and a bunch of AMD sheetmetal stashed in the basement along with parts I've been buying up.
If I could have gotten the engine unseized and put a carb, a plastic fuel cell bolted into what's left of the trunk and a few other parts on it I coulda been there ... I mean it might be in Speedo's tent in 2011 (or maybe not) anyway. 
At least I could have put off a lot of work for another year 
Other than that... put the bikini contest earlier so I can catch it. Leave the burnouts for after I leave Sat. night or Sunday. I really don't care for burnout contests.
Anyway I appreciate the effort that goes into making Carlisle a success. Having gone to both Carlisle and the Nats for 3 years straight... no comparison. Carlisle gets a big

I agree with you 100% and we ARE working on this. As a participant I never understood the process and also hated waiting in line. Now that I work here I understand it and I KNOW it can be better.
Just to let everyone know, it's not the cost of mailing the stickers. We don't do it that way because the cars actually get classified when they arrive and your class info is on that sticker. We are trying to move to a self-classification process because as most of you probably know, nobody actually looks at your car when you arrive at Gate 3. YOU tell US what car you brought and more often than not, YOU can find your class on the classification sheet faster than the person under the tent. Intentional misclassifications get corrected through one of two main methods. One, our staff sees your car is in the wrong class on the Showfield or two, you get ratted out by others in the class who know you don't belong there.
I'd like to just be able to say, "Here are the classes, pick yours when you pre-register." The problem is, I have to keep the classes fluid because they are always changing. Anyone rememeber when we used to have 12 PT Cruiser classes? That was because there were so many PTs that we needed that many classes. Now they have dwindled to the point where I have only have 2. Probably 98% of the classes remain constant but there are those classes that always change. Lately it's been the LX classes and the truck classes - basically anything that's in current production.
Wow, sorry for the long response but I wanted you guys to know that it's not the cost of the stamp and I am working on it.
