Ideally? or just the widest? If your just going for the widest that is a comprmise between the two, i say 275/60r15 or 285/70r15. One is 28" tall, the other i think is about 30" tall. You didnt mention the vehicle, so either of these may not fit.

275/60/15's on a 7" rim will prematurely wear the middle of the tire because it puckers. I have the tires to prove it. 255/60(70)/15 is the widest that is practical for a car you plan on putting enough miles on to wear out tires. If you're just going to the local cruise in, it won't matter to you.

They are going on my 72 Challenger just to roll around on/local cruise but I still want that fat and skinny look. Thanks for the replies. Scott

lower the tire pressure. I have 275/60/15's on mine for 6 years now with normal wear.

yes, but running around on squishy tires isn't the right option either. For me, Weld Draglites don't come in the backspace I need to make 15x8's fit, so it was a compromise I made. For the record, once it was clear I was wearing the tires I did drop the psi, but that starts to cause issues with your sidewalls that are already bulging over the side of the rims in the first place.

not talking 12psi here. 28-30 psi for my BFG drag radials. my car isn't a handling demon to begin with, and the lower psi cushions the potholes lol. some other tire brands with multi layer sidewalls will handle the lower psi no problem. and i highly doubt that anything over 20psi you'll get the sidewall folding over.
