Can you convert a wet sump pan for use in a dry sump system ? I have an aluminum Dan Olson funny car pan that is currently set up with two external lines attached to a single wet sump pick up ?

I don't see why not, The oil will always go to the pan, and it's gonna get sucked up by the two pickups.

It's probably got a deep sump on it though, I'd cut it and shorten it for ground clearance....

Sure, I did one but I put a divider wall in it so
each pick up had its own 1/2 of the engine

ask a dry sump manufacture rep, depending on how the holes are in the pan you may have trouble with sucking the oil off the wrist pins.Dry sump pans have special tubes with the bottoms machined off so they suck off the bottom of the pan and make the correct vacuum.

God made cold beer, good friends, hot ladies and race cars don't spit in his face by pi$$ing and moaning about how life sucks!!!

I have heard of problems with pulling oil off the wrist pins but thought this is usually tied to pulling to much vacuum ?
Would be great if I could make this pan work with dry sump since it has been modified to fit the tubular k member already.

Works fine. There is a whole thread on the subject in the archive.

No, I never got around to running the 4 stage system. Vacuum numbers will be as good as the pump. Some pumps are designed to pull a lot of vacuum, other designs can't pull much at all.

Andy are you going to add your dry sump pump mount/block off plate to your part list and sell them?

Thanks Tony, any reason it's sitting on the shelf and not the engine?

I have a couple of different block plates that I sell. A front entry and a side entry are on the shelf. I have a top entry design that hasn't been released yet but could be built if someone needed it.
