i've had a few holleys whistle when the shafts are worn. and some others that just had a whistle. you can kind of use your hand to disrupt the airflow over the carb to try to find it.

I agree. The shafts get worn and you'll get are coming through. Wiggle the shaft, so to speak, and that will tell you if they need to be replaced.

If it is one of the newer carbs, it is the two air holes hid back up under the front of the choke housing.
