Hello all,

I recently bought a 1971 Charger SE with a 383 4bbl, and I am going to be building on it for the considerable future, so I will probably be posting for a lot of advise from y'all.

First, I'm looking to put headers and a good dual exhaust system on it. I've looked at headers, Summit's are relatively cheap, and so are headman's, but how do they fit on a big block B-body?

Also, I want to know how Summit's 2.5 inch dual exhaust for b-bodies fits. Any help is welcome. By the way, I should put some pictures of the car up soon...

Thanks in advance,

NASCAR_Imperial

I had Hedman Huslers for years. They're a good fit with a mini starter. I recently switched for Schumachers which are very expensive, but worth it.

Thanks! Can y'all tell me about the Headman Street Hedders? Will they fit with a mini starter and a collumn shift? The huslers are abit pricey for me at this point

i put a set of the regular headmans on my 71 charger w 383 and column shift back in 2002 and they will capture the starter and to use the shift linkage you have to modify it but it can be made to work. they gave me the instructions. it involved flipping a linkage pivot over and using it opposite the way it was.

Many years ago I had a '71 with a 383 that I put on some cheapo Cragar headers. I remember having to fuss around with the column shifter linkage but I was able to get it to work with out having to modify. I think I either switched locations of one of the pieces or flipped some around. Too many brain cells lost since then+

Thank y'all, I really appreciate the help. Can y'all think of some headers that are still relatively cheap and will allow me to use the ministarter? I noticed Dynomax blackjacks weren't too expensive, and there's also flowtechs, but I dont know about the fit on either of them.

Try the hooker competion headers. The mfg's website should have a list of what accessories works and what doesent. The starter access is a tradeoff when going to headers.
The summit 2.5 system will work fine.
