Hi all,
I'd appreciate your views..

Best system:
1. Serpentine, or
2. double v-belt.

Hemi 572, circa 800hp, power steer, alt, water pump, air con.

???
Darren

I am ready to buy pulleys as well and want to know the same thing. March told me that the serpentine was the best way to go even at 8K rpm but would like to get real world feedback.

i know serpentine belts create way less drag.
or resistance.
they seem to be more expensive though..
and i not a fan of the look..
but pretty confident its better.
cheapst.

I have read the serpentine belts can handle more power (drive more accessories) than the 3/8" V-Belt.
Seems to make sense to me as the OEMs use one serpentine to drive 100+ Amp alternators, A/C, P/S, fan, and water pump. My original '71 383 used 4 V-belts to do the same thing

V belts take more power, they basically are wedging a piece of rubber very tightly into a steel groove continously. In the search of every last ounce of MPG and HP and lower NVH pretty much all the OEs have gone that way. They are also simpler and easier to swap, the factory engineers never consider this aspect during desighning of a car so it is obviously just a nice side effect
