I've heard you need a special tailshaft for a 727 if your running a slapstick shifter setup in an ebody. Is this true?
I see on the passenger side of a 727 tail there is a mount where you could bolt a bracket to, but the bracket needs to be on the driver side so the linkage can sit in the bushing on the bracket.
Anyone make a bracket to kick it over to the driver side? Dont really want to pull the tail off my fresh 727 and find another one if i could make / buy a bracket that would work. thanks!!!
You need the car tailshaft.
If you look at the bottom of the tail shaft you will see two ears in which the bracket mounts to. w Also the snap ring access hole is on the bottom of the tailshaft.
Post a pick of you tailshaft and i can tell you if you have the right one.

My trans has a tab on the bottom of the tailhousing with two holes for the studs on the bracket to go through. The tab is pretty much centered in the middle of the housing underside, and the studs from the bracket could go in from either the pass or drivers side. Obviously, I need to mount the bracket from the drivers side for my slap stick set up, but then again, I can't imagine any trans linkage brackets being mounted on the passenger side.
