not sure on the years produced but yes a833od its off the good ol a833 but alot were aluminum cases and the front bearing retainer is alot bigger so the register or hole needs to be bigger so if you pull the trans get the bellhousing too. also to achieve this and with the gear changes internally the 3rd 4th shift lever is upside down in comparison to the standard 4 speed

You don't necessarily have to machine the bell housing. We just put one in my brother's Coronet. All we did was machine down the OD of the retainer to fit his existing bell housing. There is plenty of meat on it to do so. This will not work if you have an early bell that has the really small hole. The two of us have used a few of these over the years, and have used the factory O/D bell, machined a bell to fit the retainer, and now machined the retainer to fit the bell. This last time is by far the best way to go so you won't end up with a bastardized bell housing that nobody wants or can use. His is behind a 440.

A-833 O.D.s were installed in '75.5-'86 trucks and vans. They are not hard to find. Place a want ad in the classifieds here or on your local craigslist.

True that, I have three in the garage.

They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.
