You don't necessarily have to machine the bell housing. We just put one in my brother's Coronet. All we did was machine down the OD of the retainer to fit his existing bell housing. There is plenty of meat on it to do so. This will not work if you have an early bell that has the really small hole. The two of us have used a few of these over the years, and have used the factory O/D bell, machined a bell to fit the retainer, and now machined the retainer to fit the bell. This last time is by far the best way to go so you won't end up with a bastardized bell housing that nobody wants or can use. His is behind a 440. Travis..
