Summit fuel line for an E-brock

Mines leaking.....I haven't used any plumbers tape(which I was always told that's a bad idea). I'm not positive yet if it's the gauge hole or the fuel line side. It's not leaking at the carb.

I had a leak where the line bolted into the carb on a 1405. The cheapo washers were the culprit.

You don't want to seal the thread on that banjo fitting. The washers/gaskets are supposed to do that. Perhaps replace the washers?

Ok, I used Teflon tape on the gauge and the brass nipple in the end of the Summit line and now no leaks. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

Plumbers tape should ALWAYS be used on pipe threads (tapered). Never on flared joints.

Of course you have to be careful no tape hangs over the end where it can come off and get itto the fuel system or whatever.

NPT= pipe dope or teflon tape. Interference fit, Tapered threads

The banjo seals with the copper washers. washers should "smash" (deform) a little, Thus the need to replace them everytime the banjo is pulled apart.

Clean that tape off and use thread sealer from a bottle. That tape will start to flake off and end up clogging jets and all sorts of crap. Had a friend that used it on an oil pressure gauge and his gauge quit working. Pulled the gauge off and found a piece of that crap stuck in the tiny hole in the back, pulled it out and the gauge worked fine again. Tape works good on water pipes and things that don't have small passages that can get plugged up, but it has no place on most automotive applications.

There is a blue paste that works well with fuel. I have had to use in the past on my fuel pump.

If the 2 washers on either side of the banjo don't seal, no amount of tape or pipe dope will help.

The threads do not do the sealing with this type of connection so don't waste your time. Fix it right. Look for scored or cracked washers or burrs/cracks on the fitting itself.
